Tips from a Fishers Veterinarian to Give Your Furbaby the Best Year Ever

Tips-from-a-Fishers-Veterinarian-to-Give-Your-Furbaby-the-Best-Year-Ever

The start of a New Year is a time for positive changes and fresh beginnings. While you may have committed to eating healthier, working out, and spending less money, you might not have included your dog or cat in your plans. As a Fishers veterinarian, we want to help all cats and dogs enjoy healthy lives. That is why, here at PetVet Animal Hospital, we decided to share a few New Year’s resolutions to help keep your pet healthy. Read on to learn more.

Take a Look at Their Diet

Every year, many people commit to eating healthier. Starting a healthier diet is a good plan for your dog or cat, too. There are loads of dog and cat foods on the market, and, unfortunately, they aren’t all created equally. Learn about your pet’s unique nutritional requirements to find food that is appropriate for them. Our veterinarians are here to lend a hand if you don't know what type of food will best meet your pet's needs.

Exercise Regularly

Spending all day on the sofa is not healthy for your canine companion or feline friend. Keep them healthy (and happy!) by making exercise part of their daily routine. Dogs need regular walks, and games like hide-and-seek and fetch are also great.. Toys that trigger your feline friend's prey drive are the best way to keep them active. Consider investing in cat trees for climbing, too.

See a Fishers Veterinarian for Wellness Care

Even if your dog or cat is free from health problems, they need to visit a Fishers veterinarian at least once per year for wellness care. Wellness care — including services like physical exams, core and lifestyle vaccinations, and parasite prevention — is important in terms of keeping your pet healthy. Keeping up with wellness care is a critical component of responsible pet parenthood, too. It is never too late to get your canine companion or feline friend's wellness care back on the right track. Call now to make an appointment.
